This service could be great. I'm a long time XMLTV user and am pleased to have two choices in a successor to Zap2itLabs.

I installed the Beta, obtained a 7 day demo key. Activated the account. However:
1. In the lineup editor, I cannot pick and choose the desired channels; I tried double-click and shift-click and so on on list members. Nada. And the Select All and Select None buttons are disabled. So I saved with apparently "all" as my choice, or maybe it was "none".

2. When I tried a manual download to an XMLTV file in my specified folder, there was a couple of seconds of a pop-up, but that's all. No messages/error notices. Instructions don't say I have to open any special ports.

Is this a stupid-user-error?

follow-up to the above...

I did get XML listings by choosing ZapToIt data direct rather than XMLTV!
Not sure what this means - ZapToIt Data Direct goes away 1 Sept. right? And XMLTV is the replacemement- fee based. Maybe these sources are interim.

The inablility to edit the lineup problem remains.

Hi stevech,

The lineup cannot be changed at this time. You will have this capability in a few days.

Is just the XMLTV that fails to download? If so, It most likely has to do with the encoding. We may end up providing 2 XMLTV options. Also not every error message is getting captured at this point.

The difference is in the format of the output file. The XMLTV option would give you a file that is almost identical to what is produced the the XMLTV app. The Zap2it format is almost identical to what you get from the free Zap2it labs data direct today.

Carm.

Same here...

Can't edit the line up at all.
XML won't download. It just sits there and does nothing. It should at least timeout or have a "cancel" button instead had to kill the program.

I installed the program on my XP box.

Entering setup fails now.

After trying both types of Zapit XML feeds I switched to the native CT feed.... That didn't work either.

Trying to get into the setup does nothing now. No window and no error.

Deleted the program. Will try next beta.

Hi sgrayban,

CT TV Listings relies on MS XML Parser being up to date. The other issue we notice is our current firewall is blocking some users. The firewall issue will be fixed in 2 days. We also looking into some dns concerns we have before we release version 1.

Carm.

OK on no lineup editing yet.

When I chose the XMLTV format option, there was no success/failure message and no file was created.

Zap2It Direct worked OK.

I didn't try CTpvr.

Microsoft has a freely downloadable XML (DOM) parser library that you can include with your C or VB application. I use it with my own code to parse and create a web page that is formatted just as I want, for display on my TV screen (large fonts, vertical not horiz scroll, trim out shows that have already aired, etc.)

I made a change to the server side xml encoding. Give the XMLTV another try if you can. If it still does not work, I'll work on a fix in hope of having it Monday night.

The CTpvr format is only used by CTpvr. I figure I would make it available CTpvr users with low bandwidth and multiple setups. They can download once and use the data on their other systems.

Carm.

just re-tried XMLTV. Same problem: animated GIF displays for 1-2 seconds. than nothing; no file.

Zap2it Data Direct works, as before; GIF displays for about 30 seconds and a 2MB file resulted.

Hi stevech,

I fixed a problem on the server side that should be the solution to the problem.

Yes, I was able to download XMLTV form. However, comma, unlike the Data Direct format, IE gave an error:

The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The system cannot locate the resource specified. Error processing resource 'xmltv.dtd'. Error processing resource 'file://...

<!DOCTYPE tv SYSTEM "xmltv.dtd">
-----------

Firefox did display it with a warning that the styles are missing. Maybe that's the way XMLTV works. I can try it with my own software that parses XMLTV's data. By the way, Firefox took about 90 seconds to process before it displayed as HTML/text! Two days' listings. (I'm out of town most of this week though).

Hi stevech,

I found that IE does not open these xml files even when downloaded using XMLTV. You should still be able to use them since I managed to import them in to two free apps.

so - is pricing set for EPG service - as we compare SD and CTpvr as suppliers?

No prerequisite for being a CTpvr licensee?
